Support
For support, feedback, privacy requests, data-access requests, deletion requests, or bug reports, contact:
When reporting a bug, include your device model, iOS version, app version, and a description of the issue. Send screenshots or files only when you choose to do so.
Important Privacy Summary
Camera frames are analyzed locally on your device using Apple's AVFoundation, Vision, and Core ML frameworks. BenchPress AI does not use a third-party AI service. Raw camera frames, photos, videos, body-pose landmarks, and form-analysis results are not sent to OpenAI, ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Anthropic Claude, or any other external AI provider.
Apple CloudKit is optional. Before any CloudKit sharing begins, the app identifies the data involved and asks for explicit permission. You may continue without iCloud.
Important Safety Notice
BenchPress AI is a fitness tracking and training feedback tool. It is not a medical device, physical therapy device, injury-prevention system, professional coaching replacement, spotter, or emergency safety system.
Bench pressing and weightlifting involve a risk of serious injury. Always use appropriate equipment, safety arms or pins, collars where appropriate, and a qualified spotter for heavy lifts. Stop exercising and seek appropriate help if you feel pain, dizziness, shortness of breath, numbness, unusual discomfort, or another concerning symptom.
Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what BenchPress AI processes or collects, how the information is obtained, why it is used, where it is stored, when it is shared, and the choices available to users.
1. On-Device Camera and Computer-Vision Processing
BenchPress AI requests camera permission so it can analyze bench press movement, count repetitions, estimate bar path and speed, evaluate tilt or balance, and generate workout feedback.
Live camera frames are analyzed locally on the user's device using Apple's AVFoundation, Vision, and Core ML frameworks. Raw camera frames, photos, videos, body-pose landmarks, and form-analysis results are not sent to the BenchPress AI developer, OpenAI, ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Anthropic Claude, or any other third-party AI service.
BenchPress AI does not use a third-party AI service. The word "AI" in the app name refers to automated on-device computer-vision analysis.
Raw live camera data is not retained after analysis unless the user deliberately creates or exports a highlight, screenshot, or saved posture snapshot through an app feature. User-created exports remain under the user's control and are shared only when the user chooses to share them.
2. Workout and Performance Data
The app may create and store workout information such as:
- Weight
- Repetition count
- Workout date and time
- Total volume
- Estimated one-repetition maximum
- Bar speed and bar path
- Bar tilt and balance feedback
- Form or grind scores
- Ranks, streaks, progress, rewards, packs, or cards
- Session reports and saved posture snapshots
This information is used to provide workout tracking, reports, history, progress, ranks, rewards, and related app features. It is stored locally on the device unless the user separately gives permission to enable Apple CloudKit features.
3. Optional Apple iCloud and CloudKit
Apple CloudKit is the only optional cloud service used by BenchPress AI. CloudKit is not required to use the app's local workout features.
Before CloudKit is enabled, the app displays the exact data involved and requires the user to select an explicit permission checkbox. The user may instead select Continue without iCloud.
Data sent to the user's private Apple CloudKit database after permission
- Workout sessions and history
- Saved posture snapshots contained in session history
- Progress data, owned reward cards, unopened packs, and rank state
- A trial/access ledger containing free reps used, sample completion time, prior verified Pro access, clock-integrity information, and update timestamps
- The user's CloudKit record identifier, used to associate private records with the user's Apple Account
The private database is used for cross-device sync and recovery. Private CloudKit data is not displayed to other BenchPress AI users.
Data sent to the app's public Apple CloudKit database after permission
- The user's chosen leaderboard display name
- Rank and score
- Streak
- Total repetitions
- Best or heaviest weight
- Estimated one-repetition maximum
- Total volume
- Form score
- Set or session count
- Update time
Public leaderboard information can be seen by other BenchPress AI users. Users should not use a real name, sensitive personal information, or other private information as a leaderboard display name.
Data never uploaded to CloudKit
- Raw live camera frames
- Raw workout video
- Apple Account password
Apple processes CloudKit information under Apple's privacy, security, and service terms. BenchPress AI relies on Apple to provide privacy and security protections at least equivalent to the protections described in this policy for data handled through CloudKit.
4. Local Device Storage and Keychain
Workout history and app settings may be stored locally on the device. The app also stores a limited trial/access ledger in the iOS Keychain to prevent repeated use of one-time free access. This ledger may include free reps used, the sample completion time, prior verified Pro access, clock-integrity information, and update timestamps.
Keychain information can remain after a normal app deletion. If the user enables iCloud, the trial/access ledger may also be stored in the user's private CloudKit database for recovery across devices or reinstalls.
5. Subscriptions and Purchase Status
Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit. BenchPress AI does not receive the user's full payment-card number.
The app checks Apple StoreKit subscription entitlement and verified transaction history to unlock Pro features, restore purchases, and determine whether prior free or Pro access has been used. A limited purchase/access status may be included in the private CloudKit trial/access ledger when the user has enabled iCloud.
6. Support Communications
When a user contacts support, the developer receives the email address, message, and any screenshots or files that the user voluntarily sends. This information is used to respond to the request, investigate problems, handle privacy or deletion requests, and maintain appropriate support or legal records.
7. Device Information, Diagnostics, Advertising, and Tracking
The app does not include third-party advertising, cross-app tracking, or third-party analytics SDKs. BenchPress AI does not sell personal information.
Apple may process App Store, purchase, crash, or device diagnostics according to the user's Apple settings and Apple's own policies. BenchPress AI may receive information made available by Apple to developers for app operation, purchase verification, crash investigation, or App Store administration.
8. How Information Is Used
Information is used only as needed to:
- Provide on-device bench press analysis and workout feedback
- Count reps and generate workout metrics
- Save local workout history and progress
- Provide optional cross-device sync through private Apple CloudKit
- Operate the optional public leaderboard
- Manage ranks, streaks, rewards, packs, and cards
- Verify subscriptions and restore purchases
- Prevent repeated trial or sample abuse
- Respond to support and privacy requests
- Maintain security, reliability, and legal compliance
9. Data Sharing
BenchPress AI does not share personal data with a third-party AI service.
When the user explicitly enables iCloud, the app shares the specific private and public data listed in Section 3 with Apple CloudKit. Public leaderboard data is also visible to other BenchPress AI users. Information may additionally be disclosed when required by law, necessary to protect users or the service, or necessary to respond to a valid legal request.
10. Data Retention
Local workout history remains until the user deletes it, resets the app data, or removes it through available app controls.
Private CloudKit information may remain while iCloud sync is enabled and until it is deleted through the app, the user's Apple Account or iCloud controls where available, or a verified deletion request.
Public leaderboard information may remain until it is replaced, removed, or deleted following a verified request. Trial/access information may be retained as reasonably necessary to enforce one-time access and prevent abuse. Support emails may be retained for customer service, security, dispute resolution, and legal recordkeeping.
11. User Choices and Permission
Users can:
- Deny or disable camera permission through iOS Settings, although core tracking will not function
- Choose Continue without iCloud to avoid CloudKit sync and public leaderboard submission
- Decline the CloudKit permission checkbox
- Manage or cancel subscriptions through Apple Account subscription settings
- Delete available workout history inside the app
- Request access, correction, or deletion by emailing info@benchpressai.com
12. Data Deletion Requests
To request deletion of a leaderboard entry or other identifiable app data, email info@benchpressai.com.
Include enough information to identify the relevant record. Verification may be required before deletion. Certain information may be retained when reasonably necessary for legal compliance, security, fraud prevention, payment disputes, or enforcement of one-time access.
13. Security
Reasonable technical and organizational measures are used to protect information. Local data uses iOS storage and Keychain protections where implemented. Optional cloud data uses Apple CloudKit. No app, device, network, or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.
14. Children and Age Requirement
BenchPress AI is intended for adults age 18 or the age of legal majority in their jurisdiction. The service is not directed to children. If a parent or guardian believes a child has provided personal information, contact the developer for review and deletion where appropriate.
15. International Users
Apple CloudKit and other Apple platform services may process information in locations where Apple or its service providers operate. Data-protection laws may differ between jurisdictions.
16. Changes to This Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Material changes may be presented in the app for renewed acceptance. The updated date at the top identifies the current version.
